findloc is a free directory of local trades and professionals across New Zealand — plumbers, electricians, builders, roofers, lawyers, accountants, and more. The goal is simple: make it easy to see who operates near you, without digging through outdated listings or asking around.

What you can do on findloc

• Browse by category. Every listing sits under one trade or profession — builder, electrician, plumber, lawyer, accountant, and dozens more — so you can go straight to the category you need.
• Switch between three views. A card grid for browsing visually, a compact list for scanning quickly, and a live map for seeing who's actually closest to you.
• See what's near you. With location access, findloc sorts results by distance instead of showing the same list to everyone regardless of where they are.
• Call directly. Every listing with a phone number has a one-tap call button — no contact form, no waiting for a callback.
• Save businesses you're considering. A simple favourite/save option for comparing a shortlist later.

Who it's for

findloc covers two broad kinds of listings:

1. Trades — builders, electricians, plumbers, roofers, painters, plasterers, drainlayers, gasfitters, heat pump and solar installers, landscapers, lawn care, arborists, gardeners, handymen, cleaners, locksmiths, pest control, and removalists.
2. Professional services — lawyers, accountants, and mortgage brokers.

Real estate agents are deliberately not listed — they're already easy to find on any high street or the major property sites, so a directory doesn't add much value there. findloc is built for the businesses that are genuinely harder to track down.

How the data works

Listings come from a mix of sources: OpenStreetMap's public business data, directory-style aggregation across New Zealand, and businesses that list themselves directly for free. Where a listing hasn't written its own description yet, findloc shows a short factual placeholder (name, category, and location) rather than inventing marketing copy on a business's behalf — real business owners can claim their listing and write their own.

It's free

findloc is free to browse and free to list a business on. There's no paywall on contact details and no "premium" tier that hides basic information. If that changes down the track, it'll be through optional paid promotion for businesses that want more visibility — never by charging people to find a tradie.
