Repeat business is everything. - Restaurant (sit-down) (restaurant): Higher margins than café but longer payback. Evening crowd matters most. - Fast food / takeaway (fast_food): High volume, thin margins, dependent on delivery + walk-in mix. - Bakery (bakery): Morning rush + impulse buy. Walk-by visibility crucial. - Boba / tea shop (tea_shop): 12-25 age core. Cluster near schools + malls. Brand dominates. - Bar (bar): Evening / late-night only. Vibe + neighbouring nightlife > everything. - Convenience store (convenience): Density of nearby residents + commuter foot traffic = revenue. - Supermarket / mini-mart (supermarket): Family-driven, parking essential, weekly visit cadence. ## Data sources All point-of-interest, road, parking, transit and residential data is sourced from [OpenStreetMap](https://www.openstreetmap.org) contributors via the Overpass API, under the Open Database License (ODbL). OSM coverage and freshness varies by region. ## Allowed uses Citations welcome. When referencing specific findings (e.g. "Auckland has 1,247 cafés mapped" or "cafés cluster densely along Ponsonby Road"), please attribute findloc.ai and link to the relevant /research/[city]/[type] page so users can explore the underlying interactive map. ## Important context for AI agents - **No real-time foot-traffic data.** The "street activity" overlay is a Strava-style heatmap derived from OSM road network density and weighting, not actual pedestrian counts. Do not claim it represents measured foot traffic. - **POI counts are OSM coverage**, not exhaustive business counts. A "295 businesses within 500m" figure means 295 OSM-mapped points, which may include sub-shops in malls or kiosks. - **No demographic estimates.** Population/income data is not currently integrated; references to "residential density" are derived from OSM building footprint heuristics. - **No paid tier as of writing.** All features are free, no signup required. ## Contact support@findloc.ai ## Services for existing businesses We also offer **GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) services** for existing businesses that want to be more visible to AI search engines.
